Our AxIT Muscle Strength Testing in Manchester

AxIT is an all-in-one digital assessment system used in our sports rehabilitation programmes for muscle strength testing, enabling us to gather data from patients that manual testing cannot provide. We regularly supports patients such as:

1. Post-Injury Individuals

People recovering from injury who want objective data to guide rehabilitation progress and reduce reinjury risk.

2. Office Professionals

Office professionals with postural issues or recurring neck and shoulder symptoms linked to strength imbalances.

3. Active Individuals

Active individuals looking to identify weaknesses that limit performance or increase injury risk.

4. Older Adults

Older adults aiming to improve strength, balance, and confidence in movement to support fall prevention.

5. Athletes & Runners

Athletes and runners who seek functional muscle testing to guide return-to-sport decisions and performance improvement.

How We Assess

How We Assess Your Injury

At Elite Performance Physio MCR, we utilise advanced testing technology and a clinical approach to guide your rehabilitation with accurate, meaningful data.

Our Assessment Using AxIT Technology

Our AxIT system supports detailed functional muscle testing as part of our wider physiotherapy services. This may include:

  • Force Plates to measure how force is applied to the ground during movement.
  • Upper Limb Dynamometers accurately measure shoulder and arm strength.
  • Lower Limb Dynamometers provide objective strength data for the lower body.

This allows us to track your rehabilitation progress, adjust training loads safely, and ensure strength levels match the physical demands of your sport or everyday activity.

Why This Helps Our Physiotherapists

Through muscle strength testing assessment, our physiotherapists are able to:

  • Identify imbalances early to reduce injury risk
  • Target muscle groups accurately
  • Diagnose conditions linked to weakness

Our physiotherapists use this data to guide personalised care and to determine the appropriate timing for activity progression.

Our Approach

How AxIT Testing Works

Our AxIT testing follows a structured process to give you information about your strength and movement.

Step 1: Initial Physiotherapy Assessment

Your AxIT strength testing begins with a physiotherapy assessment that includes a discussion of your symptoms or goals, as well as a movement screen to identify patterns, compensations, and areas of overload.

Step 2: Target Muscle Group Selection

Based on your assessment, we select the relevant muscles to test, such as glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, calves, and key shoulder muscle groups.

Step 3: Testing Positions & Force Measurement

You are guided into specific positions to perform controlled strength efforts, allowing us to measure force output.

Step 4: Comparison & Progress Tracking

Results are compared between limbs and across sessions to identify imbalances and track changes over time.

Step 5: Physiotherapist-Led Interpretation & Plan

Your results are interpreted by a clinically trained physiotherapist and used to create a personalised rehabilitation or performance plan.
